PhD Scholarship in Managing Traumatic Exposure in Healthcare at Aston-Deakin Cotutelle 2026

This programme of work will develop and pilot an intervention package to build psychological readiness among paediatric healthcare professionals who are exposed to potentially traumatising incidents at work.  The main objectives include:

• to review the evidence related to building psychological resilience among healthcare professionals.
• to gather experiential evidence alongside theoretical evidence to co-produce an intervention to help paediatric healthcare professionals manage potentially traumatising incidents at work.

Benefits

This scholarship is available over three years and offers:

• a stipend of £21,383 (UKRI) per annum (2026 - 2027 rate)
• up to 12 months of the total period of the program at Deakin University.
• students will be enrolled at their home institution and at their host institution and will receive a Doctoral degree from Aston University and Deakin University.

Requirements

To be eligible you must:

• be a domestic or international candidate. Domestic includes candidates with Australian Citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency or New Zealand Citizenship
• meet the PhD entry requirements of both Deakin University and Aston University, including equivalence and English language proficiency criteria
• enrol full time
• be able to physically locate to both Aston University (United Kingdom) and Deakin University (Australia).
