Application Timeline
The Chevening scholarship process takes up to 8 months from the application deadline to when the scholarships are awarded. The detailed timeline is as follows
- 5th August, 2025: Application Opens
- 7th October, 2025: Application Closes
- October 2025: Applicants are filtered using the eligibility criteria
- Mid October 2025 to January 2026: Applicantions are accessed
- Mid February 2026: Applicants are shortlisted for interviews
- March - April 2026: Shortlisted applicants are interviewed
- Mid-June 2026: Results are announced
- 9th July, 2026: Deadline to submit your unconditional offer from a UK University
- September/October 2026: Studies Begin
Eligibility Criteria

Must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country

Must be committed to return to your home country for at least 2 years after the scholarship award ends.

Hold an Undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master’s program

Must not have studied in the UK previously with a UK government-funded scholarship

Must have leadership skills, show passion towards creating positive impact, and have a career plan to achieve that.

Must have at least two (2800 hours) years working experience which includes internship, part- or full-time employment, and volunteer work. This work experience is to be gained after graduation as work experience gained during school period are not counted.
Documents Required for Application.
The following are documents needed for the application:

Name and contact details of two referees

Two reference Letters written by your selected referees

Undergraduate Degree Certificate
If invited for interview, you need to go ahead and upload the letter written by your referee and your undergraduate certificate.
The referee should be someone who knows you in a professional or personal capacity, but not a friend or relative. You should also inform the person before using them as a referee.For your educational document you need to submit an official undergraduate degree certificate or transcript directly from your university proving your grade and degree. All documents should be in English.
Submission of Online Application
All Chevening Scholarship applications must be submitted through the online application system when the scholarship portal is open. After submission of the online application form, the next stage is shortlisting.
