Corinne Burton Art Therapy Student Scholarship 2026 at Goldsmiths University of London

Due to the generosity of the Trustees of the Corinne Burton Memorial Trust (CBMT), Goldsmiths is able to offer a studentship for full-time and part-time students of Art Psychotherapy who hold resident status in the UK. You must have received and accepted an unconditional offer of a place on the MA and not already be in receipt of any other grant or award for fees. You must be prepared to undertake some part of your clinical placement in a hospice or in work with patients suffering from cancer and agree to practise Art Therapy with cancer patients for two years following successful completion of your MA.

Benefits

  • The Trust agrees to pay your tuition fees of up to 60% (home fees) for each year of your programme 
  • To pay £5,500 per annum for a further two years, as a part-time salary while you work as an art therapist (in a hospital or cancer clinic) after successful completion of the programme. 

Requirements

  • You must have received and accepted an unconditional offer of a place on the MA in Art Psychotherapy and hold resident status in the UK.
  • You should not already be in receipt of any grant or award for fees.
  • You must be prepared to undertake some part of your clinical placement in a hospice or in work with patients suffering from cancer, for which you will receive appropriate supervision.
  • You must agree to undertake part-time work in a hospital or hospice, normally in London or the South East of England, practising art therapy with cancer patients for two years following successful completion of the Masters programme.
  • You should submit an application (maximum 1,000 words) by email stating why you would like to be considered for the studentship, what particular personal qualities and professional attributes you could offer in the care of persons suffering from cancer and what contribution you feel art therapy could make in this field.

Selection Process

A panel of senior staff from the Unit and School will consider all applications and the successful applicant will be notified as quickly as possible. The panel’s decision will be final and there is no appeal against the decision.
