The Cowrie Foundation Scholarship is only available to students who have been assessed with a Home fee status who are planning to undertake a full-time undergraduate degree at Imperial beginning in 2026/27.

Requirements

To be considered for this scholarship you must:

• have an offer of admission to study at Imperial on a three, four or six year undergraduate programme
• possess a Home fee status
• have been assessed for financial support through Student Finance England (SFE) (or equivalent funding authority), with a SFE verified household income of less than £35,000 per annum by 11:59pm (UK time) on Friday 29th May 2026
• be one of the following ethnic heritages: Black African; Black Caribbean; Mixed - White and Black African; Mixed - White and Black Caribbean; or Other mixed backgrounds (to include Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Other)

Please note: This scholarship is not available to continuing students.

Selection Process

• The successful candidate will be notified by email no later than 31st July 2026.
• If you have not heard from the University by this date, please assume you have been unsuccessful in your application.

How To Apply

1. Step 1: 
   • Submit a UCAS application form for your course of study and have an offer of admission by the deadline of 11:59pm (UK local time), Friday 29th May 2026.
2. Step 2: 
   • ???????Submit a student finance application and be 'means-tested' by Student Finance England (SFE) or equivalent funding authority. 'Means-tested’ is when a student submits details of their household income, to help their student finance body assess how much they’re eligible to receive in maintenance support.
   • To be considered for this scholarship, your household income information must be less than £35,000 per annum and must be confirmed to us by SFE by the deadline of 11:59pm (UK local time), Friday 29th May 2026. 
   • SFE can take up to 8 weeks to assess applications so in order to be eligible for the scholarship it is recommended that you apply to be means tested as soon as the applications for the student loan open. Please make sure you consent to share with the College your household income information (Your household income is your parents' or partner's income, plus yours) to SFE.
   • This is important as we need to be able to access your household income information to determine your eligibility for this scholarship
3. Step 3: 
   • ??????????????Complete and submit the Cowrie Foundation Scholarship 2026 application form by 11:59pm (UK time), Friday 29th May 2026.
   • Applicants will be assessed on academic merit or potential through the standard admission process.
   • Through the scholarship application form, applicants will be required to successfully demonstrate the importance of the Cowrie Foundation Scholarship in relation to their planned studies and personal development.
