Durham University 2023 Dean’s Scholarship

We are delighted to be offering a new Dean’s Scholarship across the Faculties of Arts & Humanities or Social Sciences & Health to support high achieving home fee status students looking to undertake a postgraduate taught master’s programme in academic year 2023/24.

The majority of taught master’s programmes in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences & Health (except all PGCE programmes and the Master of Social Work) are eligible for consideration.

£2,500 for the academic year 


Requirements for Durham University Masters Scholarship Qualification

  • must have a valid offer or place for a full-time postgraduate taught master's programme in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities or the Faculty of Social Sciences & Health;
  • must be classified as a Home student for tuition fee purposes; and
  • can either provide a first class degree, or is an applicant who having been affected by the marking assessment boycott (MAB) and, therefore, not currently in a position to provide a first class degree is able to demonstrate or evidence they are on track to be confirmed with a first class degree.

  1. Apply for a course

    As long as you apply for a postgraduate taught master’s programme in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities or Social Sciences & Health (excluding all PGCE programmes and the Master of Social Work) that begins in September/October 2023 you are automatically eligible for this Scholarship - you do not need to apply separately.

    If you have been affected by the marking and assessment boycott taking place at some UK universities, we will support you to progress to postgraduate study.     If you have already applied or been offered a place on a relevant postgraduate taught master’s programme and are eligible for this scholarship we will contact you to confirm your scholarship.
