Economics Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) funded PhD at University of Leicester 2026

University of Leicester are pleased to offer four fully funded Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) studentships to join our PhD in Economics at the School of Business commencing on 21 September 2026. The University welcomes applications in all areas of Economics, including Financial Economics. The studentships are available to full-time, on-campus registrants of our PhD Economics  programme.

Benefits

This 4-year Graduate Teaching Assistant Studentship provides:

• 4 years tuition fees at the UK or International rates
• Annual combined stipend and salary package totalling £20,780 (rates for 2205/6. Rates for 2026/7 to be confimed

Requirements

• The studentship is open to UK and International applicants.
• Applicants are required to hold a UK Bachelor Degree with at least a 2:1 and a Master's Degree or overseas equivalent.
• The University of Leicester English language requirements apply.

To be included in your application:

• In the proposal section, please provide your project title, the name of your proposed project supervisors, and upload your Research Proposal Form.
• A personal statement briefly explaining your interest in the project and your experience.
• Degree Certificates and Transcripts of study already completed, and if possible, transcript to date of study currently being undertaken.
• A CV.
• Evidence of English language proficiency, if applicable.
• In the reference section, please enter the contact details of your two academic referees in the boxes provided or upload letters of reference if already available. (proposed supervisos cannot act as your referees).
• In the funding section, please specify Economics GTA

You are not required to contact supervisors ahead of submitting your application.

Proposals not on the proposal form or incomplete applications may not be considered.

Include Economics GTA in the subject line.  These applicants do not need to submit a new PhD application.
