Emily O Akinluyi Scholarship (2026) at University of Sussex

The University of Sussex is delighted to be able to offer, through the generosity of one of our graduates, the Emily O Akinluyi Scholarship. This scholarship is available to one woman applicant in either the Business School, the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences or the School Engineering and Informatics, with priority given to BAME students.

Requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

• be a undergraduate student studying in your first year (this may be a Foundation Year) who has joined the University of Sussex in 2026
• be a woman
• be a UK national
• be registered in either the University of Sussex Business School, the School of Mathematical & Physical Sciences or the School of Engineering & Informatics.
• your family income must be verified by the Student Loans Company as being under £30,000 per year

Priority will be given to BAME students

How To Apply

1. Apply for an undergraduate degree
2. Eligible applicants will be contacted and invited to apply once they are registered at the university. 
   • Applicants will be asked to submit a personal statement of no more than 500 words. Your personal statement will be assessed on the following:
   • Career aspirations and how these are linked to your undergraduate degree
   • Leadership experience in either a professional capacity or through extra-curricular activities
   • Any involvement in either voluntary or community projects
