Benefits
- The value of the award is £21,000 per year, tenable for years 1, 2 and 3 of an MPhil/PhD programme, subject to annual renewal. This award can be used as a stipend or towards tuition fees. The award can be combined with a doctoral loan from Student Finance England or other loans, scholarships, or research awards as long as the combined value does not exceed the research income cap of £26,057 per year in addition to tuition fees.
- The scholar will join a network of Bonnart-Braunthal Trust scholars and be expected to take part in the Trust’s wider programme of activities as well as produce a Braunthal Report on completion of the research which will represent an Executive Summary of findings. The scholar will have access to a professional editor in the production of this report and will be awarded an additional £500 on completion.
Requirements
Applicants must be:
- prospective MPhil/PhD offer holder – home / EU or overseas OR
- current student admitted for full-time PhD research in any department of UCL
- intending to pursue research relevant to the aim of the scholarship.
Selection Process
- There is a combined selection by UCL academics for the research schemes.
- This selection panel will make the final decision on successful candidates based on academic excellence and research potential. Financial circumstances are not taken into account.
