Global Research Scholarship at University of Strathclyde 2026

Strathclyde Business School is offering up to nine PhD fee-only awards.

These will be competitively awarded to outstanding applicants for PhD study with a start date of 1 October 2026. Applicants must have an excellent academic track record with appropriate external recognition and be able to demonstrate commitment to their chosen field of study.

Requirements

For entry on to the PhD programmes, the University normally look for a first-class or upper second-class UK Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, in a relevant business or social science related subject, as well as a master’s degree, or overseas equivalent, although there are often exceptions. When reviewing your academic achievements, they're particularly interested in grades which relate to independent research (for example, a research project or dissertation).

English language requirements

You can prove your knowledge of English by:

Passing a Secure English Language Test from our list of accepted providers with an IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.5, with no individual element below 5.5.

The University will also consider evidence of prior study using English as the medium of instruction, if this study was in the last five years.

Your application must include:

• an updated curriculum vitae
• a research proposal
• details of two academic referees, including email addresses
• academic transcripts, which must be certified copies
