The Dr David McGillivray Access Bursary awards £1,000 annually to a Widening Participation Scottish student starting a Heriot-Watt four year programme. Those who are studying within our School of Engineering and Physical Sciences are eligible to apply. This includes Chemistry; Chemical Engineering; Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and Physics.
Heriot-Watt University is a public university based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was established in 1821 as the world's first mechanics' institute (Royal Charter granted in 1966). It has campuses in the Scottish Borders, Orkney, Dubai, and Putrajaya in Malaysia. Applications for this bursary from new undergraduate students joining Heriot-Watt in September 2024 are now open. Please complete the application form and submit as soon as you can. To apply you must hold an offer to study at Heriot-Watt in September 2024. The deadline for applications is Sunday 5 May 2024 at 17:00.
Note - this bursary is for new students who will be joining Heriot-Watt in September 2024 only. Current students who are already enrolled are not eligible to apply. If you are a current student facing financial difficulty, find out about the financial support available to you.
