KMMS Christopher and Henry Oldfield Support Scholarship at University of Kent 2026

The Christopher and Henry Oldfield Trust wish to contribute to the Kent & Medway Medical School (KMMS) by supporting a student on the basis of financial need. The award is designed to cover the full academic fees at the home rate for the Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (BM BS) programme for 4 years.  

This scholarship has been generously awarded to support a KMMS student with their tuition fees for 4 years, after which the NHS Bursary becomes available to cover the remaining fees

Benefits

Tuition fee waiver for 4 years at the home rate (£9, 790 for 26/27)

Requirements

All candidates must:

  • Have accepted an unconditional or firmly accepted a conditional offer from the Kent and Medway Medical School 
  • Provide evidence of financial hardship 

Award Conditions for applicants who are at, or just leaving school may include:

  • Orphaned, or estranged from parents 
  • Student should have been in receipt of, or eligible for, free school meals in Year 11 
  • Have parents in receipt of pension credit or income support, income-based job seekers allowance, child tax credit or employment support allowance
  • Be in receipt of a 16-19 Bursary 
  • Be in receipt of a UCAT Bursary  

Award conditions for postgraduates may include:

  • Be in receipt of employment and support allowance or universal credit, AND disability living allowance or personal independence payments, in their own right 
  • Have a household income below £24,000 per annum
  • Having to stop regular employment to take up a place at KMMS, with financial commitments to Student Loan repayments.

How To Apply

Applications for this scholarship should be made via your applicant portal.

You will only be able to submit an application for this scholarship via your portal once have accepted an unconditional or firmly accepted a conditional offer from the Kent and Medway Medical School.

Apply by submitting the following documents  before the deadline: 

  • A 500 word statement titled 'Why I am suitable for The  Christopher and Henry Oldfield Trust Support Scholarship' 
  • Letters of support from (at least one of) social worker, teacher, doctor, minister of religion
  • Documents to support financial status; such as SLC statements, 16-19 Bursary, UCAT bursary, benefits statement

And if applicable, 

  • Written confirmation from the local authority of current/previous looked-after status 
  • Written confirmation of benefit award/tax credit notice, in the name of the student (vulnerable or discretionary) or parent (discretionary) 

All documents must be in either Microsoft Word or PDF format. Documents that are not sent in this format will not be reviewed. Please do NOT send documents via Google Docs or SharePoint.
