This PhD offers hands-on training in high-demand research and engineering skills, including: artificial intelligence, data fusion, robotics, metrology, software development, research and communication.

This project is an exciting opportunity to undertake industrially linked research in partnership with the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC). It will be based within the Intelligent Automation Centre (IAC) of the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering, Loughborough University which amongst its wider research interests is renowned for cutting edge research in applied metrology and robotics.

Benefits

  • This fully funded 3-year full-time studentship is available only to UK nationals.
  • The successful applicant will receive a generous tax-free annual stipend of £25,000, full-time home tuition fees paid, and £2,000 per year for consumables and travel. Funding from MTC requires passing their security checks before starting the PhD.

Requirements

Entry requirements for United Kingdom

  • Loughborough University are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated candidate with a 1st or high 2:1 degree in robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Candidates should have programming experience and a strong interest in artificial intelligence, robotic systems, and metrology. A passion for applying technological solutions to real-world infrastructure challenges is essential.

English language requirements

  • Applicants must meet the minimum English language requirements.
