About Newcastle University

Newcastle University (Officially, the University of Newcastle upon Tyne) is a public research university located in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North-East of England. The university can trace its origins to a School of Medicine and Surgery (later the College of Medicine), established in 1834, and to the College of Physical Science (later renamed Armstrong College), founded in 1871. 10 tuition fee awards 

Requirements for Newcastle University Masters Scholarship Qualification

• Be assessed as international for fee purposes
• Hold an offer for an eligible Master’s degree programme at the University’s Newcastle city centre campus for the 2025/26 academic year
• Already have or expect to receive the equivalent of an upper second class UK honours degree or above

Applicants domiciled in the following countries/regions are not eligible to apply for VCGS awards as the University offers specific schemes for these countries/regions: 

• Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria
• Canada, USA
• China, Hong Kong, Taiwan,
• Japan, South Korea
• Colombia, Peru, Mexico
• Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Turkey
• Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka
• Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, UAE and Vietnam
• and any member state of the European Union.

Eligible candidates will be assessed according to evidence of academic ability, evidence of commitment to studies and quality of application.
