South and East Network for Social Sciences (SENSS) and CAM-DTP will be announcing a call for two ESRC-funded studentships starting in October 2027. The purpose of this joint scheme is to promote collaboration between our two DTPs. The supervisory teams include a supervisor from each DTP and the topics offer students a genuine cross-DTP and cross-disciplinary approach.
Academic qualification: Hold or expect to obtain a First Class or Upper Second-Class (2:1) degree, or equivalent.
Master’s degree: A relevant Master’s degree may be required depending on the PhD project.
Course/field: Proposed research must fall within the social sciences and align with an eligible SENSS research area.
University application: Apply to an eligible SENSS partner university and meet its PhD admission requirements.
Research proposal: Submit a strong research proposal that fits the selected project/research area.
English language: Meet the English-language requirements of the university.
International applicants: International students, including Nigerians, can apply, subject to the limited number of international awards.
Full-time study: Be able to undertake the PhD on a full-time basis.
Placement: Be willing to complete the required professional/placement component of the studentship.
Funding eligibility: Meet SENSS/ESRC eligibility requirements for the studentship.
