The scholarship usually offers 4 years of funding for students arriving with a Masters degree. In rare cases we offer 5 years of funding for students wishing to first pursue a Masters within the department followed by a 4-year PhD programme.
The scholarships are highly competitive and are allocated solely based on academic merit and research potential. They include a teaching requirement in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of the PhD programme for a total of 180 hours per annum, including both contact and non-contact hours. In year 1, students contribute to teaching for 110 hours (training and second marking only).
