Applications are now open for the University of Kent 2025 KMMS Widening Participation Scholarship. The Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) are dedicated to supporting students from all backgrounds and are offering Widening Participation scholarships to those most in need.

Benefits

The scholarship will consist of a maintenance payment of £1,500 per annum for the duration of the course totalling £7,500 over 5 years.

 

Requirements

  • Have accepted an unconditional or firmly accepted a conditional offer from the Kent and Medway Medical School 
  • Provide evidence of financial hardship 

Additional factors that will be taken into account include belonging to a category of disadvantage such as: The first in family to go to university, registered young carer or care leaver.

 

Application Documents

In order be considered for this scholarship, you will need to submit:

  • A 500 word statement titled 'Why I should be considered for the KMMS Widening Participation Scholarships'
  • Written confirmation from the local authority of current/previous looked-after status - if applicable
  • Written confirmation of benefit award/tax credit notice, in the name of the student (vulnerable or discretionary) or parent (discretionary) 
  • Documents to support financial status such as:
    • 16-19 Bursary;
    • UCAT Bursary;
    • benefits statement;
    • P60 End of Year certificate or Self Assessment; or
    • previous 3 months payslips for adults in the household.

All documents should be uploaded in either Microsoft Word or PDF format.
