University of Southampton Sanctuary Scholarships for UD and PGT Students 2024

Sanctuary Scholarships for September 2024-25 are now open for new Undergraduate (UG) and new Postgraduate Taught (PGT) students,?starting September 2024. Our Sanctuary Scholarship supports?2 students per year who are seeking sanctuary in the UK, 1 Undergraduate and 1 Postgraduate.

Benefits

The University of Southampton will:? 

  • Cover 100% of tuition fee costs for each year of study (3 years for UG and 1 year for PGT) 
  • Provide a bursary for each year of study to help with additional study costs?(this is flexible given individual circumstances)
  • Provide a welcome pack
  • Support with university accommodation (if you have specific requirements, please contact the Sanctuary Coordinator

Requirements

Applicants for the Sanctuary Scholarship will need to:

  • hold an offer from the University of Southampton to study on either an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught course.

They will also need:

  • to be an asylum seeker *- a person who has made a claim within the UK for refugee status, or,
  • to be a person who has been granted some form of temporary status* - such as limited leave to remain etc.

    *Please note: Spouses/civil partners must have been the spouse/civil partner on the date on which the asylum application was made. Children/stepchildren must have been aged under 18 on the date on which the asylum application was made.

Interview Dates and Process

Applicants for the Sanctuary Scholarship will need to:

  • hold an offer from the University of Southampton to study on either an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught course.

They will also need:

  • Live a commutable distance to the University of Southampton campus (ideally the one that hosts the offered programme of study for most of the time)
  • Studying their first Undergraduate degree or first Masters degree
  • Unable to access UK Government Student Finance (this is the main one)

  1. For UG programme applications please submit your programme application by the end of January 2024 through UCAS for September 2024 entry.
  2. For PGT programme applications please enquire with the admissions team or the Sanctuary Coordinator.
