AIR, the globally renowned recording studio, is to fund a new diversity scholarship to one of the most prestigious degree courses in sound recording, here at the University of Surrey. It is open to UK students from underrepresented ethnic groups.
The University of Surrey is a public research university located within the county town of Guildford, Surrey, in the South East of England, United Kingdom. The university specialises in science, engineering, medicine and business. It received its charter on 9 September 1966, and was previously situated near Battersea Park in south-west London. The institution was known as Battersea College of Technology before gaining university status. The AIR Diversity Scholarship for Tonmeisters will be worth £30,000 to each student over the course of their degree and is open to UK students from underrepresented ethnic groups.
Payment of the scholarship will be made in two equal amounts of £5,000. Students will be advised of the outcome of their application in the first semester and the award will be disbursed in two equal payments annually.
Open to students from the UK/EU who are studying one of the following courses :
Applicants must be from one of the below ethnic groups:
Asian or Asian British
Black, African, Caribbean or Black British
Mixed or Multiple ethnic groups
Other ethnic group
White
Students who can demonstrate a household income of less than £35,000 will be prioritised.

The deadline for applications for this award is 7 October 2024. Students will be advised of the outcome of their application in Semester 1.
