The Newtons’ Undergraduate Scholarship in Mathematics is now open to receive applications from home/UK students studying any undergraduate mathematics degree led by the School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Surrey, starting in September 2024.
The Newtons’ Undergraduate Scholarship in Mathematics has been established by Paul and Jenny Newton, both of whom studied mathematics as undergraduates at the University of Surrey.
The University of Surrey is a public research university located within the county town of Guildford, Surrey, in the South East of England, United Kingdom. The university specialises in science, engineering, medicine and business. It received its charter on 9 September 1966, and was previously situated near Battersea Park in south-west London. The institution was known as Battersea College of Technology before gaining university status. The Newtons’ Undergraduate Scholarship in Mathematics provides £3,000 a year for up to three years, plus £1,000 for a Professional Training placement if taken.
The Scholarship aims to encourage and support students from lower income backgrounds on any of our undergraduate mathematics degree programmes:
Students can receive this Scholarship in addition to a University Merit Scholarship as well as any other bursary, prize and award for which they are eligible, if successful.
