The University of Sussex has received funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Office for Artificial Intelligence (OAI) to increase diversity in the AI and data science sector and to support 25 UK students from underrepresented groups to access, participate and succeed in higher education.
The University of Sussex is a public research university situated in Falmer, near Brighton in Sussex. The university received its Royal Charter in August 1961, and was a founding member of the 1994 Group of research-intensive universities promoting excellence in research and teaching. Sussex counts three Nobel Prize winners, 14 Fellows of the Royal Society, six Fellows of the British Academy and a winner of the Crafoord Prize among its faculty. To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must be a UK student who is classified as 'Home' for fees and have been offered and accepted a place on one of the following degrees, commencing in September 2023:
Scholarships will be prioritised for students who are Black, female and/or disabled.
Special consideration will also be give to students from areas of the UK where young people are less likely to go on to higher education (POLAR quintiles 1 and 2); care experienced students; estranged students; Gypsy, Roma, Traveller students; refugees and children from military families, veterans and partners of military personnel.
Eligible applicants will need to submit an academic statement as part of the application process. Your statement will be assessed on your past experience and future plans.
Applicants must be UK students classified as 'Home' for fees and holding an offer of a place at Sussex. Scholarships will be prioritised for students who are Black, female and/or disabled.
