The Greta Dexter Exhibition Bursary, established through the will of former Birkbeck student Mrs Greta Dexter in 1996, provides financial assistance to students studying French or French Studies. The bursary aims to support students experiencing financial hardship while pursuing their academic goals.
A financial award of up to £1,000
Applicants must:
Be 21 years of age or older
Be enrolling in an eligible French-focused programme (as listed above)
Be employed, working in the home, or a government-supported full-time carer
Be experiencing financial hardship (typically with an income below £25,000/year; supporting documents required)
Applicants are selected based on
Financial need based on income
Enrolment in a French-focused academic programme
Age and employment status
Overall merit and alignment with the bursary’s purpose
Completed online application form
Proof of enrolment in an eligible course
Evidence of income (to demonstrate financial hardship)
Any additional documentation relevant to employment or care responsibilities
