This scholarship is open for application from students who have firmly accepted an offer from the Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS). This award is predominantly for students who currently reside in the area served by East Kent University Hospitals Trust, or attended school or college in this area.

Benefits
The award is for £15,000 per annum for the first 4 years of study. This will cover a full tuition fee (£9,535 for 25/26), with the remainder being paid as a maintenance stipend.
Requirements
- Adverse family circumstances, estrangement
- Educational disadvantage, interrupted education, low performing schools, critical staffing deficits
- Health conditions physical and/or mental
Interview Dates and Process
- A 500 word statement titled 'Why I am suitable for the Andrew Johnson Scholarship'.
- Evidence of adverse family circumstances, educational disadvantage and/or health disadvantage. Examples of acceptable evidence are:
- Written confirmation from the local authority/social work department of adverse family situations
- Written confirmation of adverse educational impact from school heads
- Written confirmation of adverse health conditions from doctor, counsellor
- Documents to support financial status such as:
- 16-19 Bursary;
- UCAT Bursary;
- benefits statement;
- P60 End of Year certificate or Self Assessment; or
- previous 3 months payslips for adults in the household.
- Evidence of ongoing sporting or charitable activities which benefit the community in East Kent
