Individual awards to UK trainee and practising Religious Education and Home Economics (including Food and Textiles) subject teachers support teacher education and help teachers improve their expertise through professional development. In short, to help people become teachers, and better teachers and to encourage them to stay in the profession.
Covers part or full cost of tuition fees, materials, or other essential educational expenses.
Eases the financial burden for trainee teachers pursuing a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent certification.
Assists practising teachers with funding for CPD (Continuing Professional Development) or postgraduate research to improve classroom teaching.
General Eligibility
You must be a UK citizen.
Your course of study must:
Lead to becoming a qualified teacher in the UK, or
Improve your professional development as a current teacher in the UK.
Trainee Teachers
You must:
Be training to teach Religious Education (RE) or Home Economics (HE) – including food and textiles education.
Be enrolled in a UK university or equivalent institution offering a course that leads to:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or
Other equivalent teaching certification.
Practising Teachers
You must:
Already be working as a qualified RE or HE (food/textiles) teacher.
Be pursuing:
Continuing Professional Development (CPD), or
Postgraduate action research aimed at improving classroom teaching.
Your development must be supervised by a UK higher education institution or equivalent body.
Exclusions
You are not eligible if your course can be fully funded through personal means or available public funding.
The Trust only supports applicants who genuinely need financial assistance.
