Birmingham City University is offering the High Achievers' Scholarship for students entering in 2025. This scholarship rewards academic excellence, providing £1,000 to eligible home fee-paying students who achieve outstanding results. If you apply by June 30, 2025, and secure 144 or more UCAS points from your top three qualifications, along with five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, you could qualify for this financial boost.
Successful applicants will receive a £1,000 award.
To be eligible for the High Achievers' Scholarship, you must:
Be a Home (UK) student
Assessed as a Home fee payer (not international).
Apply for an eligible undergraduate course
Course must start in September 2025 or January 2026.
Must be a full-time course.
Courses not eligible: Nursing, Midwifery, Operating Department Practice, Paramedic Science, and Social Work.
Achieve strong academic results
Attain five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English and Maths.
Obtain at least 144 UCAS tariff points from qualifications completed in summer 2025 (in one sitting).
This is equivalent to AAA at A-level, DDD in BTEC Extended Diploma, or 36 in the International Baccalaureate.
Meet course-specific entry requirements
Some courses may also require an interview, audition, portfolio, or specific subject combinations.
Be enrolled in your first year of study
The scholarship applies only to first-year students entering directly after completing their pre-university qualifications.
Apply for an eligible undergraduate course
Submit your UCAS application to BCU by 30 June 2025.
Ensure the course is full-time and eligible (see exclusions below).
Meet the academic and eligibility requirements
Be assessed as a Home fee payer.
Achieve five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Maths and English.
Secure 144 or more UCAS points from your first attempt at A-Levels or equivalent qualifications in summer 2025.
Fulfill any additional course-specific entry requirements (e.g., interview, portfolio, specific subjects).
No separate scholarship application is needed
BCU will automatically assess your eligibility once your results are in.
