British Council GREAT Scholarships for International Students 2025

GREAT Scholarships offer students from 18 countries the opportunity to have £10,000 towards their tuition fees for a wide range of one-year taught postgraduate courses. In the 2025-26 academic year, over 200 scholarships are offered by over 70 universities across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The British Council is a British organisation specialising in international educational and cultural opportunities. It is registered as a charity both in England and Wales and Scotland. Requirements for British Council Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

  • Must be a citizen of an eligible country (Bangladesh, China, Egypt, France, Ghana, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam).
  • Hold an undergraduate degree, demonstrate motivation, and show interest in the proposed subject area.
  • Meet the English language requirements of the UK higher education institution (HEI).
  • Engage with the UK as a scholar, pursuing both personal and academic development.
  • Be open to attending a networking event with other UK-based GREAT scholars to share experiences and insights about studying in the UK.
  • Be willing to maintain contact with the British Council and their HEI and serve as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarships.
  • As a GREAT Scholarships alumnus, occasionally speak to potential candidates about your experience of studying in the UK.
