British Council IELTS Prize 2023 for International Students

The British Council IELTS Prize is a monetary reward designed to help fund the winners’ undergraduate or postgraduate studies for those starting the academic year from January 2023 to March 2024.

About British Council

The British Council is a British organisation specialising in international educational and cultural opportunities. It is registered as a charity both in England and Wales and Scotland. Founded in 1934 as the British Committee for Relations with Other Countries, and granted a royal charter by King George VI in 1940, the British Council was inspired by Sir Reginald ("Rex") Leeper's recognition of the importance of "cultural propaganda" in promoting British interests. Aim and Benefits of British Council Contest

In each participating country there will be three winners*:

• £5,000 (1 winner)
• £2,000 (1 winner)
• £1,000 (1 winner)

* Except in Sri Lanka [£5,000 (1 winner), £2,000 (3 winners), £1,000 (5 winners)] and Bangladesh [£5,000 (1 winner), £2,000 (2 winners), £1,000 (4 winners)].

The IELTS Prize is aimed at motivated, proactive people who are focused on making the world a better place. 

Requirements for British Council Contest Qualification

• Be 18 years or above.
• Be a resident of the country you’re applying from.
• Have taken IELTS with British Council between 1 April 2022 and 31 August 2023 and be able to produce a valid IELTS score in the application. 
• Book an IELTS test.
• Have a minimum overall IELTS band score of 5.5 or above.
• Be applying to an educational institution, anywhere in the world, that requires IELTS as part of its admission process.
• Be able to provide the letter of acceptance from your university latest by October 2023. 
• Begin undergraduate or postgraduate studies in academic year from January 2023 to March 2024.
