Whether you're studying overseas for a semester or an entire academic year, participating in a summer school program, or undertaking an international work, internship, or traineeship placement, Butex scholarships are here to support your global journey.
The Sustainability Abroad Scholarship is a unique opportunity that merges the critical themes of sustainability with the enriching experience of international study.
In a world where travel is increasingly accessible, this scholarship emphasises the importance of sustainable practices and environmental awareness alongside cultural exchange and education.
Each Butex scholarship is valued at £600. The award will be disbursed once the recipient has arrived and registered at their host university, or upon confirmation of a completed placement.
Additionally, Butex honours the memory of our late Treasurer with the Tony Emmerson Award, a special £600 scholarship presented to a successful American Studies student.

Applicants may submit only one entry and must ensure their placement is eligible for this award.
By entering the Butex scholarship competition, you agree to allow the Butex Manager to contact your institution to confirm your registration at the host university. If awarded a scholarship, you agree to provide a photograph and a short statement about the benefits of your study/work abroad experience, which may be used by Butex for future publicity.
All applicants will be notified of the outcome, as we value the time and effort invested in each application. The decision of the Butex selection committee is final, and no correspondence will be entered into with unsuccessful applicants.
