City University London Change Makers Programme 2025

Change Makers is a philanthropically funded initiative offering scholarships and bursaries to UK-based students with home fee status from underrepresented backgrounds. This programme supports those aspiring to pursue an MA in Podcasting or Broadcast Journalism.

Benefits

The scholarship of £25,000 will cover full tuition fees and living costs for one student.

A bursary of £5,000 for one student on either the MA Podcasting or MA Broadcast Journalism course.

Requirements

There are two awards available for the 2025/26 academic year: the Spotify Podcast Scholarship and the Goalhanger Podcasts Bursary.

Spotify Podcast Scholarship

Funded by the Spotify Creator Equity Fund which was set up to promote diversity and inclusivity for artists and creators. The scholarship of £25,000 will cover full tuition fees and living costs for one student who meets the following criteria:

• Hold an unconditional offer for the MA Podcasting at City St George's, University of London for the 2025/26 academic year
• Come from an underrepresented community (this includes but is not limited to: race, ethnicity, physical ability and socio-economic status)
• Be able to demonstrate financial need through production of a case for support
• Available to UK-based students with home fee status.

Goalhanger Podcasts Bursary

Goalhanger Podcasts are funding a bursary of £5,000 for one student on either the MA Podcasting or MA Broadcast Journalism course who meets the following criteria:

• Hold an unconditional offer for the MA Podcasting or MA Broadcast Journalism at City St George's, University of London for the 2025/26 academic year
• For applicants on MA Broadcast Journalism you must also confirm that you will opt for the podcasting elective
• Be able to demonstrate financial need through production of a case for support
• Available to UK-based students with home fee status.

Applicants will be assessed based on the above criteria for each award. Please note each successful applicant will only be eligible to receive one award.
