The Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology (MBIT) offers a range of bursaries for both full-time and part-time students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies. These bursaries aim to support students with genuine financial need and a commitment to theological education and the Institute’s mission. The bursaries are open to current and prospective students for the 2025–26 academic year.
Educators’ Bursary – 50% tuition for 2 years (PT MA student working in Education)
Chaplaincy Bursary – 50% tuition for 2 years (PT MA student in a Chaplaincy role)
Canonesses of St Augustine Funded Bursaries – For postgraduates and short courses
MBI General Bursaries – Available for undergraduates, postgraduates, short courses, or study days
To be eligible for a bursary, applicants must:
Be studying at MBIT or have applied for an MBIT course (including degrees through Anglia Ruskin University, the University of Cambridge, or other MBIT programmes).
Demonstrate financial need, including full disclosure of income and expected expenses.
Have explored and exhausted other possible sources of funding.
Meet the Institute’s academic standards and values.
Be full-time or part-time students (UK-based or international).
Apply within the application deadlines.
Submit applications by email or in person before the following deadlines:
Round 1 Deadline: Sunday, 29 June 2025
Round 2 Deadline: Sunday, 31 August 2025
Late applications are not normally considered.
After receiving an offer of admission, applicants must submit the following documents:
A Reference (for new students) or Progress Report (for current students)
A Cover Letter (for new students) outlining their situation and financial need

Round 2 Deadline: Sunday, 31 August 2025
