Requirements

To be eligible to apply for the funding you must:

  • Be a postgraduate student (Home or Overseas fee status)
  • Be commencing the MRes Biomedical Research in October 2026
  • Be in receipt of an offer for the programme
  • Have accepted the offer and fulfilled all offer criteria

Please note: This scholarship is not available to continuing students.

How To Apply

Firstly, apply for a master's degree in Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction.

Once in receipt of an offer for the programme, please submit a statement covering the below criteria. The following three questions all carry equal weight. These are not ‘trick’ questions; we are interested in your honest responses to them. There are no right or wrong answers.

  1. Motivation – Please tell us about an aspect of your academic, research or professional experience that you found especially exciting, enjoyable or challenging. How did this experience influence your decision to pursue further studies in science? (Maximum 1300 characters)
  2. Contribution – What are your ambitions or goals in science, and what kinds of approach(es) might you use? These approaches might be research-based, technical, organisational or entrepreneurial, for example. We realise that your interests might change in the future, but please tell us about your current thinking. (Maximum 1300 characters)
  3. Professional trajectory – Imagine that you have been offered a place on your programme together with this funding. What are you most looking forward to in your programme, and how will this help you to reach your ambitions or goals? (Maximum 1300 characters)

Please submit your statement to the relevant programme administrator including:

  • Your full name
  • Your College Identifier Number (CID)
  • ‘MSc Human Molecular Genetics bursary’ in the email subject line
