Brunel University of London, in collaboration with Vestas Technology (UK) Ltd; one of the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturers, is offering a fully funded PhD studentship focused on advancing bio-inspired wind turbine blade design. This 3.5-year project begins in October 2025 and combines cutting-edge research in aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, and aeroacoustics with hands-on industrial collaboration, aiming to revolutionize sustainable energy technologies.

Benefits
- The successful applicant will receive an annual tax-free stipend starting at £21,795, and full payment of UK/EU tuition fees.
- International applicants are also encouraged to apply. However, they'll be required to cover the difference between International and UK/EU tuition fees independently.
- International students will receive the same stipend amount as UK/EU students.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold (or expect to obtain) a minimum 2:1 or 1st class degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
- Have a Master's qualification (preferred, not required)
- Be highly motivated with strong scientific discipline and an interest in environmental sustainability
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Selection Process
Selection is based on:
- Academic excellence
- Relevant experience or demonstrated interest in aeroacoustics, aerodynamics, and sustainable technologies
- Quality and clarity of research and personal statements
- Strength of references
