The David Tupman Scholarship at De Montfort University 2025

The David Tupman Women in Technology Scholarship has kindly been funded by alumnus David Tupman. The scholarship is intended to encourage and support ambitious young women to undertake a degree in Engineering. The scholarship provides financial support across three years of study, which will also be supported by mentoring and guidance from David Tupman, and a supportive peer network including recipients of the “The David Tupman Engineering Scholarship” offered by the University of Salford.

Benefits

The scholarship is £3,000 per year of study. 

Requirements

To be eligible, students must:

  1. Identity as female
  2. Have made DMU their firm choice for the first year of either the Computer Science BSc (Hons) or Electrical and Electronic Engineering BEng/MEng undergraduate degree programme in the current academic year (not distance learning)
  3. Be a home/fee paying student — have a UK Student Support Number (English, Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish students)
  4. Apply online to be income assessed by Student Finance
  5. Demonstrate financial need — household income must indicate that students are eligible for means-tested support from Student Finance with a household income of up to and including £50,000
  6. Be paying tuition fees under the new tuition fee regime of £9,250 or £9,535
  7. Be self-funding — your course of study must not be externally funded
  8. Hold no other form of donor or university funded scholarship
