This studentship enables Indian PhD scholars to undertake a short-term research visit (up to three months) to the King’s India Institute at King’s College London. It supports the collection of research material, access to academic facilities, and engagement with subject experts. Scholars may also use other libraries and academic institutions across the UK.
The Studentship offers financial support for a period of up to three months and includes:
Travel allowance reimbursable on actuals (up to USD 1,000).
Maintenance expenses (up to USD 2220 per month).
Funds for buying materials and making copies of relevant literature, reimbursable on actuals (up to USD 500).
Health allowance reimbursable on actuals (up to maximum USD 500).
On arrival, King's will support the grantees with GBP 1000 for the entire duration of visit in addition to the amounts mentioned above provided by Inlaks.
The applicant must be an Indian passport holder residing in India.
The applicant must be born on or after 1st January 1990.
The applicant must hold a confirmed PhD registration for at least two years but for not more than three years.
The applicant must have a first-class Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
The applicant's research must be in the subjects related to Humanities and Social Sciences.
The applicant must have proof of positive communication from the experts that they wish to engage with.
Exclusions: Applicants can only apply for either the Inlaks-Kings India Institute Studentship or the Inlaks Research and Travel Grant (IRTG) in any given year.
