The Newtons Undergraduate Scholarship in Mathematics is now open to receive applications from Home/UK British students studying any undergraduate mathematics degree led by the School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Surrey, starting in September 2026.

Benefits

This scholarship will support one undergraduate student with their studies at the University of Surrey by providing £9,000 (£3,000 per academic year for up to three years of study). An additional £1,000 will be given should a Professional Training Year be taken.

Requirements

To apply for this scholarship, the applicant must:

• Be a Home/UK student.
• Be a first-year student studying one of the following degrees at the University of Surrey (please note that any students who will be in a Foundation Year during 2026/27 are not eligible):
  • Mathematics BSc (Hons)/MMath
  • Mathematics with Data Science BSc (Hons)
  • Financial Mathematics BSc (Hons).
• Have a household income of less than £35,000.
