Imperial College London invites applications for its UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare. This fully funded 4-year PhD program equips students to address pressing healthcare challenges using advanced AI techniques, including machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics. A new funded PhD project on AI for Clinical-Grade Mobile Mental Health Management is currently available for Spring/Summer 2025 start.
Regular PhD Studentship
Full Tuition Fees (Home rate: £7,340/year in 2024–25)
Annual Stipend: £22,780 (UKRI London rate for 2025–26)
Research/conference support funding
Duration: 3–4 years

Clinical salary support
Tuition fees (Home rate) for up to 3 years
Must be GMC-registered UK doctors in training (ST2–4 or GP Trainees within 12 months of CCT)
Must be eligible for OOPR (Out of Programme for Research)
First Class (4-year) Undergraduate degree and Distinction Master’s (or equivalent)
Backgrounds accepted:
Computer Science
Engineering (Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical)
Mathematics, Physics, Statistics
Biological Sciences, or Medicine
Core skills: Coding, Mathematics, Statistics
Desirable: Experience in ML, NLP, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics, HCI, or Digital Health
ATAS clearance required
English proficiency at Imperial’s Standard Level
Clinical Fellows: Must be GMC-registered and eligible for clinical release
