The School of Mathematics is keen to attract well-motivated and able students to engage in research mathematics and invite applications for scholarships from those students who have applied for a place on the Mathematics PhD programme. The awards are funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
We are a member of the elite Russell Group of UK universities. Birmingham is the first Russell Group, and global top 100 university to establish a campus in Dubai. Birmingham has one of the largest international student communities in the UK, with over 10,000 students from 150 countries.
These scholarships cover all tuition fees and a maintenance allowance of £16,062 (2022/23).
The scholarships are currently available to UK students studying a Mathematics course at the postgraduate research level.
If you wish to be considered for a scholarship, please indicate this when asked 'how do you intend to fund your studies?' on the application form.

1 August 2023
Later scholarship applications may be considered subject to available funding.
