The scholarship is worth £1,000, paid in two instalments throughout your first year of study at UEA. There are 30 available. If you are successful in being awarded a scholarship we ask to hear from you twice in your first year, updating us on how you have used the money to support your extracurricular activities. This can be through a blog, vlog or Instagram or TikTok reels – whatever you feel best showcases the activity you have undertaken.
The types of things you could consider using the scholarship for could include accessing events or opportunities hosted by UEASU; UEA Sport+ membership; an annual bus pass to access extra curricular activities across Norfolk; or an external membership (e.g. theatre or National Writing Centre).
The 60th Anniversary Scholarship is only open to UK fee-paying students who are starting their first undergraduate course at UEA.
We are looking for original, engaging responses that show what you will bring to the UEA community during your studies and beyond. You should be able to prove a track record of community contribution through volunteering or extra-curricular activity and research the opportunities that UEA can offer. We would encourage you to submit your scholarship application as soon as you feel it is ready.
Applications will be considered by a panel made up of academic staff and current students in early May and you will hear whether you have been successful by the beginning of June.
Scholarships will be subject to you meeting the academic requirements of your offer. When applying for this scholarship, you must already be in possession of a conditional or unconditional offer for an undergraduate degree course starting at UEA in September 2025. You must have selected UEA as your firm choice. Applicants in receipt of another UEA scholarship or award should note that scholarships are exclusive. In a situation where a candidate is offered multiple awards the greater amount will be offered.
Applications will close on Friday 2 May 2025.
This scholarship is designed to reward applicants who have been offered a place to study with UEA and who can clearly and concisely explain how they will make the most of their time here through their involvement in extracurricular activities. Applications for this scholarship can be submitted via video, audio or in writing. We would like you to respond to the following two questions:
Tell us about yourself and why you want to study at UEA
Consider the different social and extra-curricular opportunities available to you at UEA, and outline how you may engage with these in order to enhance your experience, and those of your fellow students.
Submissions should be via the application form above. Video must be .mp4 format, filmed in standard definition (not HD or UHD) and no longer than 2 minutes in length. Written submissions must be no more than 500 words. This is an opportunity to go beyond your personal statement, mention UEA specifically and tell us why UEA is the right university for you. You may find it helpful to look at the opportunities available via UEA’s Student Union.
