This scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has already accepted a place on the MSc/MA Reparatory Justice programme offered jointly by the Universities of Glasgow and the West Indies, and who is not otherwise in receipt of funding. Applications are particularly welcomed from applicants from the Caribbean and African diasporas.

The scholarship shall consist of an award equivalent to the programme fees for UK/Caribbean students (£11,250 in 2025-26), to be paid in a single instalment at the commencement of the academic year for which the award is made.
Requirements
- The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who has already accepted the offer to undertake study on the Universities of Glasgow/West Indies MSc/MA Reparatory Justice programme by the scholarship application deadline of MONDAY 21 JULY 2025.
- The scholarship may be awarded to a UK, Caribbean, EU or International student.
- Applicants must meet the programme's entry criteria: normally a 2:1 undergraduate degree in a cognate subject area. In exceptional circumstances consideration may be given to applicants who have the equivalent of a 2:1 undergraduate degree in the form of relevant professional experience in the field.
- Students already in receipt of an award which covers the full cost of the fees for the programme will not be eligible to apply.
- The scholarship will be used in the first instance towards fees. If the successful applicant chooses to use personal finances to cover the cost of fees, then the scholarship may be used as a stipend.
- The scholarship shall consist of an award equivalent to the programme fees for UK/Caribbean students (£11,250 in 2025-26), to be paid in a single instalment at the commencement of the academic year for which the award is made.
- The award shall be made primarily on the basis of academic merit and motivation. Weight may also being given to the level of financial need where this is possible to evidence.
- The award shall be made by the Chair in Scottish History and/or the Chair’s nominees.
- It is a condition of the award that the award-holder shall undertake their dissertation in the field of Scottish Slavery Studies. The award-holder will also be encouraged to take any courses which the programme offers in Scottish Slavery Studies, and in general to pursue all opportunities the programme provides for engagement with Scottish Slavery Studies.

- the full application submitted to the MSc/MA Reparatory Justice programme, including current CV and two academic references
- evidence of acceptance of the offer to undertake postgraduate study on this programme
- a personal statement of no more than 500 words setting out the applicant’s research interests in Scottish Slavery Studies, and a proposed MSc/MA dissertation topic in that field
