University of Glasgow James McCune Smith Scholarship for Students of African/African-Caribbean backgrounds in UK 2024

The University of Glasgow has up to 30 undergraduate scholarships available for students of African/African-Caribbean backgrounds. The scholarship supports students who could face financial difficulties taking up their place to study at the university.

The value of the scholarship is £2,000, paid in instalments for year one of undergraduate study.

Requirements

 The scholarship is open to new applicants to the university for 2024 entry. Current students who have previously been in receipt of the award may reapply, however, preference will be given to applicants entering their first year of study.

  • Be classed as ‘Home’ or ‘RUK’ for fee purposes
  • Have firmly accepted an offer of a place to study a full-time undergraduate programme, at the University of Glasgow in the forthcoming academic year (September 2024)
  • Identify as as being of Black African/African-Caribbean heritage
  • Provide evidence that your, or your family's, circumstances are such that you may find it difficult to take up a place at the University for financial or other reasons.
  • Be undertaking your first undergraduate degree
