University of Kent Stella Dick Scholarship for Mature Students 2024

The Stella Dick Scholarship for Mature Students* offers 2 scholarships of £5,000 per year, which will be paid towards maintenance costs during your studies.

Stella Dick generously left a legacy to support a scholarship for mature students entering Higher Education. Stella was a mature student herself who launched a highly successful career in education from this point. She had a passionate belief in the transformative power of education and wished to pass this on to future generations.

*Mature students are defined as any student aged 21 or over at the start of their studies.

Requirements for University of Kent Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

  • Applicants will not have had the opportunity to attend Higher Education within the last 5 years due to work, family or educational commitments.
  • Eligible candidates will not hold any prior undergraduate or postgraduate degree qualification. Foundation degrees or other lower level qualifications are acceptable.
  • You must be a UK resident and have a home address in either Kent or Sussex at time of application.
  • Candidates will be income assessed according to the following criteria:
    • UK students who are new to higher education and have a household income of less than £42,875 as well as meeting other financial eligibility criteria.
    • As long as you have made your application to Student Finance England, you have been income assessed by them, and you and your sponsor(s) (the person(s) income assessed by SFE, where relevant) have given your consent to share your financial details with the University, you will automatically be assessed for your entitlement.

How to Apply

Applications should be made through your Application Portal once available.

Applicants will be required to provide the following:

  • Confirmation of the above criteria.
  • A 500 word statement outlining why you wish to study at the University of Kent, and why this scholarship will be beneficial to your studies.
  • x2 Academic or Professional References (derived from your programme application.

Please note, you will need to hold at least a conditional offer for your programme (to begin study in September 2024) in order to apply for this scholarship.
