The Citizens of Change Scholarship can be awarded to students in receipt of other University of Leicester or other external scholarships.
Successful applicants will need to have made Leicester their firm choice and have met the conditions of their offer.
Any UK student who has applied to the University of Leicester and who holds an offer to study with us on a full-time campus-based undergraduate course starting in September 2025. Successful applicants will need to have made Leicester their firm choice and have met the conditions of their offer.
Submissions will be assessed based on the following three key criteria:
Impact
Consideration will be given to the potential real-world impact of the idea presented. Whether the change proposed is large or small, emphasis will be placed on its relevance, significance, and ability to make a meaningful difference within a community or beyond.
Vision
This criterion evaluates the originality, creativity, and depth of thought reflected in the submission. The clarity of the concept and the approach taken to develop and express the idea will be essential in determining its distinctiveness.
Communication
With a limit of 200 words, the ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely is crucial. Submissions should effectively articulate what the applicant stands for and demonstrate a coherent and compelling message.
Submissions will be evaluated by the review panel based on three primary criteria, beginning Thursday, 5 June 2025. Due to the anticipated volume of entries, all applicants will be notified of the outcome—whether successful or not—by Friday, 25 July 2025.
