University of Leicester International Postgraduate Taught Merit Scholarship 2025-26

The University of Leicester is pleased to offer the International Postgraduate Taught Merit Scholarship to outstanding international students entering a full-time, campus-based master’s programme. Valued at £5,000, this merit-based award recognises applicants who hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK first-class honours. Eligible students beginning their studies in September 2025, January 2026, or April 2026 will be automatically considered without the need for a separate application.

Requirements

• You must be classified as an international student for fee purposes.
• You must be starting a full-time, campus-based Master's course or PGCE commencing in September 2025, January 2026, or April 2026.
• The fee discount will be calculated on the basis of the standard tuition fee.
• The scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of one year and will not apply for periods of industrial placement, resit years or if you suspend your studies for any reason.
• In accordance with scholarship guidelines, students are allowed to hold only one University of Leicester scholarship. If you are awarded more than one scholarship, you will only receive the higher value award.
• If you currently have a conditional offer of a place at the University, you will still need to fulfil any conditions stated on your offer letter.

Interview Dates and Process

Selection Criteria includes:

• Academic Excellence: You must hold an undergraduate qualification equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree.

• Tuition Status: You must be classified as an international student for fee purposes.

• Programme Type: You must be applying for a full-time, campus-based postgraduate taught degree or PGCE programme.

• Start Date: You must be starting your course in September 2025, January 2026, or April 2026.

• No Separate Application: The scholarship is awarded automatically based on academic merit—no separate application is required.

• Final Results Submission: Your eligibility will be confirmed upon submission of final academic results.
