Requirements
To get this scholarship you must:
- have an offer to study MSc Optical Engineering at The University of Southampton
- be an international student paying the overseas fee
- not be in receipt of any external sponsorship covering 100% of the tuition fees
Selection Process
- This is a competitive process and not all applicants will be successful.
- The selection team will award this scholarship to up to 3 students by assessing your CV, motivation statement, and academic track-record.

- apply to study MSc Optical Engineering
- email your CV and a motivation statement (500-word limit) to Dr Morten Ibsen ([email protected]), by 6 April 2026, 5pm (UK time)

- why you have chosen to study MSc Photonics and Optical Engineering, and why you feel you should be a recipient of a Photonics Impact Scholarship
- where you consider will be the biggest impact from photonics and optical engineering based technologies in the future
- what your career aspirations are in the fields of photonics and optical engineering, and how receiving a Photonics Impact Scholarship will help you to achieve these.
