The University of the Arts London (UAL) is offering 190 UAL Home Postgraduate £7,000 Scholarships for the 2025/26 academic year. This scholarship provides a £7,000 fee waiver for eligible Home students pursuing a full-time or part-time taught Master's course (Grad Dip, M ARCH, MA, MBA, MFA, MRes, or MSc) at one of UAL's Colleges and Institutes (excluding UAL Online courses). Prospective students can apply through two distinct routes, each with specific eligibility criteria, allowing for consideration based on financial hardship or academic merit.

Requirements

If you think you meet the criteria for Route 1 and 2, we recommend you complete each scholarship application form to be considered for both.

Route 1

To be eligible to apply you must be:

  1. assessed as a Home student for tuition fee purposes. EU and other non-UK nationals who qualify for the Home tuition fee status will also be eligible to apply; and
  2. hold an offer to study a full-time or part-time taught master’s course at 1 of UAL's Colleges and Institutes. Courses run by UAL Online are not eligible for this scholarship. Your course must offer either a Grad Dip, M ARCH, MA, MBA, MFA, MRes or MSc qualification; and
  3. be in receipt of means tested benefit at the time of application to include Universal Credit; or
  4. have previously received student funding from UAL (excluding the UAL Equipment Fund or previous UAL scholarship) or your previous university, awarded on the basis of financial hardship; or
  5. have previously been in care for more than 13 weeks (spanning your 16th birthday).

Route 2

To be eligible to apply you must be:

  1. assessed as a Home student for tuition fee purposes. EU and other non-UK nationals who qualify for the Home tuition fee status will also be eligible to apply; and
  2. hold an offer to study a full-time or part-time taught master’s course at 1 of UAL's Colleges and Institutes. Courses run by UAL Online are not eligible for this scholarship. Your course must offer either a Grad Dip, M ARCH, MA, MBA, MFA, MRes or MSc qualification; and
  3. you have achieved, or are predicted to achieve, an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) or above. Recognised equivalents are also accepted. Please refer to the NARIC to check your degree. You will need to provide your transcripts as proof of your qualification. If you have not yet received your results, you will need to provide evidence of your predicted grade as part of your application. When you receive your results, you will need to provide further evidence that you have achieved your predicted grade to be granted the award; and
  4. You must provide a satisfactory personal reference from an academic or professional referee. Your reference must be provided in English; and
  5. you must provide a personal statement which responds to the following questions (maximum 350 words per question):
    1. Describe your background and your academic experience.
    2. Describe how receiving a postgraduate scholarship would make a difference to you.
    3. Tell us how you intend to use the qualification you will be gaining to support your future plans.
    4. Confirm any other sources of funding you have, or have applied for, to meet the cost of your studies.

Please note:

You are not eligible to apply if you already hold a UK postgraduate taught qualification (or 1 at an equivalent level) from studies undertaken in the UK or abroad.

How To Apply

To apply for the UAL Home Postgraduate £7,000 Scholarships, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Obtain an offer for a postgraduate course at UAL: You must first apply for your chosen full-time or part-time taught Master's course (Grad Dip, M ARCH, MA, MBA, MFA, MRes, or MSc) at one of UAL's Colleges and Institutes (UAL Online courses are not eligible).

    • Recommendation: For courses starting in September/October 2025, it's recommended to apply for your course before the Round 2 course application deadline (which was March 26, 2025) to ensure you receive your offer in time for the scholarship deadline.
  2. Access the scholarship application form via your applicant portal:

    • Once you've received an offer to study at UAL, log in to your UAL applicant portal.
    • From mid-January 2025 onwards, the "my funding" page on your portal will be updated to include application forms for scholarships you may be eligible for.
  3. Complete the scholarship application form(s):

    • There are two routes for this scholarship, each with different eligibility criteria. If you believe you meet the criteria for both, it's recommended to complete both application forms to be considered for both routes.
    • Route 2 Specific Requirements: If applying via Route 2, you will need to provide:
      • Evidence of an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) or above (transcripts, or predicted grades with proof of final achievement later).
      • A satisfactory personal reference from an academic or professional referee (in English).
      • A personal statement addressing specific questions (maximum 350 words per question):
        • Describe your background and academic experience.
        • Describe how receiving a postgraduate scholarship would make a difference to you.
        • Tell us how you intend to use the qualification you will be gaining to support your future plans.
        • Confirm any other sources of funding you have, or have applied for, to meet the cost of your studies.
  4. Submit your application by the deadline:

    • For September/October 2025 course start dates, the scholarship application deadline is Sunday, June 22, 2025 (11:59 pm UK time).
    • For January 2026 course start dates, the scholarship application deadline is Friday, October 31, 2025 (11:59 pm UK time).
    • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Important Notes:

  • Offer is Crucial: You must hold an offer for an eligible postgraduate course before you can apply for this scholarship.
  • One Scholarship Rule: If you are successful in applying for more than one UAL award or scholarship, you will only be able to accept one.
  • Route 1 vs. Route 2 Allocation: If you apply for and are successful in both Route 1 and Route 2, you will be automatically allocated the Route 1 Scholarship.
