University of Oxford Royal Society Newton International Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025

The Royal Society Newton International Fellowship supports outstanding early-career researchers based outside the UK to develop independent research careers through international collaboration. The program fosters global research connections and innovation by offering comprehensive support for two years.

This Royal Society scheme provides support for outstanding early career researchers to make a first step towards developing an independent research career through gaining experience across international borders. These fellowships enable researchers to access expertise, gain new perspectives and build long-lasting collaborative relationships.  The overarching aim of the Newton International Fellowship programme is to attract and retain emerging talent in the UK and build a globally connected, mobile research and innovation workforce.

Aim and Benefits of University of Oxford Fellowship

  • Salary support for two years.

Requirements for University of Oxford Fellowship Qualification

  • Researchers based outside the UK who do not hold UK citizenship.
  • PhD holders with no more than seven years of full-time postdoctoral experience.
  • Applicants who have not lived, worked or conducted research in the UK for more than 12 months before the deadline (short visits under 3 months are allowed).

How to Apply

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to [email protected] by 20 January 2025. Include:
    • CV (noting career breaks and part-time work).
    • List of publications/outputs.
    • 1-page research project summary.
    • A 200-word statement on the benefits to Oxford, the UK, and UK research.F
    • Confirmation from an Oxford Physics sponsor.
  2. After EOI approval, submit the Full Proposal via the Flexi-Grant portal by 18 March 2025.
